EDF Energy is looking for a new CIO
New CIO will be looking after all IT and cyber security matters for the energy giant
EDF Energy, part of the EDF Group, is looking for a new chief information officer (CIO) who will be responsible for all matters relating to IT management and IT security within the company.
According to LinkedIn, the current CIO is Gilles Chauveau who has been in the role since July 2012. The person who is set to replace Chauveau will have an IT budget of £170m, of which £100m will be under direct management. They will also have about 170 employees under direct management and be working across multiple sites in the UK.
The new CIO will have to provide data and technology vision and direction to the firm, and align this with an over-arching business strategy, according to the job ad.
The new CIO will also have to plan, implement and monitor the integration of new technologies, and develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive enterprise security and IT risk management programme.
He or she will have to facilitate cyber security governance and ensure it is compliant with nuclear regulation, and manage IT and cyber security incidents to protect corporate IT assets including intellectual property, regulated data and the company's reputation.
"[A] recent increase in cyber threat requires a measured but robust response to mitigate this risk. This role has responsibility for developing that risk mitigation strategy and recommending it to the executive team," the job ad reads.
The successful candidate will have to provide a single point of coordination and oversight for all digital initiatives and transformation projects in EDF Energy. They will be tasked with providing shared IT services, on-premise infrastructure services, digital online services and end user services to enable mobility.
EDF Energy said that it had embarked on an ambitious programme to reduce its IT costs while improving services. It said that it would do this via an in-depth transformation of the IT operating model, outsourcing IT to external providers and leveraging digital and cloud services.
The person tasked with managing this programme will have to have an in-depth knowledge of IT, substantial IT experience in a large IT function, and strong relationship-building, influencing and people management skills.
EDF Energy is looking for someone with strategic planning ability combined with the ability to implement these plans. It wants a CIO with strong commercial knowledge of complex business and IT operations, someone experienced at defining and delivery strategy in a group environment and a CIO with commercial experience and negotiating skills in complex multi-vendor environment.
A salary has not been given for this full-time, permanent role.
