#MWC: Nokia to give Lumia 900 worldwide launch and touts 41-megapixel smartphone camera

Finnish firm also debuts budget Lumia 610 as it continues fightback

BARCELONA: Nokia launched a number of devices and services during its press conference at MWC, as the firm continues to try and rebuild market share in Western Europe.

The Finnish manufacturer confirmed that the Lumia 900 will be launched worldwide, although only Canadian and the US customers will get the LTE version of the device.

Nokia also launched it's cheapest Windows Phone handset to date in the form of the Lumia 610. This will retail at €189, but Nokia claimed that the handset will provide the same experience as high-end Windows Phone devices.

In the surprise announcement so far, the firm also unveiled the Pureview 808 smartphone, a Symbian device that comes with a 41-megapixel camera. The firm claims that the device will provide the "sharpest images on a smartphone" to date and also be capable of recording audio in CD-quality.

Nokia plans to utilise this Pureview technology in future Windows Phone devices.

In terms of software, Nokia announced the Skype for Windows Phone beta is available to download and debuted its Transport and Reading apps.

Nokia Transport will allow users to navigate public transport by providing information on the best routes to take.

Nokia Reading will provide access to news, audiobooks and e-books in a digital magazine-style format. Users can personalise content by adding RSS feeds and there will be a dedicated Live tile.

Nokia also added to its budget Ashe handset range, as it looks to push ahead in the emerging market.
