River Island implements Torex Retail J
The POS solution will provide central control and business intelligence
Fashion retailer River Island has completed the rollout of a new point of sale (POS) solution from retail technology solution provider Torex, called Retail J, across its 267 stores.
River Island replaced its legacy JDA POS system with Retail J in August to improve its customer service.
"We needed a POS system that would meet the changing needs of our business, as well as the retail marketplace, and so we chose Torex," said Chris Clubbe, IT director of River Island.
"Its Retail J solution is flexible and can provide central control across international markets. It has allowed us to introduce a gift card scheme, while also providing a platform for our multichannel offering," he continued.
Torex will also provide business analytics and loss prevention which will supply River Island with a single source for all business-critical data.
Richard Willis, retail solutions director at Torex, believes that the solution will also offer River Island more flexibility.
"It replaces the legacy POS solution and River Island's original enterprise management solution that goes alongside that. We're replacing a legacy system that didn't have the flexibility to meet changes and it couldn't adapt to more complex solutions," he said.
Torex Retail J has been implemented across several retail stores, such as fashion brand Republic and DIY store B&Q. It controls prices, products, promotions and the inventory and is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security (PCI DSS) Standard to allow quicker transaction times.
