ThinkStation E20 starts at £571

The ThinkStation E20 offers workstation performance at an affordable price

Lenovo has announced the ThinkStation E20, the first of a new series of entry level workstations offering performance at an affordable price, according to the firm.

Available immediately, the ThinkStation E20 pricing starts at €648 (£571), with systems based on Intel Core i5 or Xeon 3400 series processors, support for error correcting code DDR3 memory and certified graphics hardware including Nvidia's Quadro FX1800.

The new range is designed to deliver the performance required by professionals working in the computer aided design (CAD) and digital content industries, at an affordable price.

Mark Cohen, Lenovo vice president of enterprise products, claimed that many professionals are struggling with desktop PC hardware owing to budget constraints.

"They are running workstation-class applications and could benefit from using true workstation hardware. We designed the ThinkStation E20 with these users in mind to put true workstation performance within their reach and enable them to realise the significant productivity gains associated with using the right tool for the job," he said.

The E20 is backed by certification from leading CAD vendors such as Autodesk, Siemens and Dassault Systèmes.

Lenovo also said that the E20 leads the PC industry in its use of recycled plastic, with more than 50 per cent of its plastic content coming from recycled materials.
