Lenovo updates notebook and tablet lines

Additions to X201 notebooks and tablets and W series notebooks due next month

The Lenovo X201 range will be available as a regular notebook or a tablet

Lenovo has rolled out four additions to its portable systems line, including the X201 notebook and tablet systems, and the W series notebooks.

The X201 range is slated for release in March, and will be available as a regular notebook or a tablet system.

The tablet version will sport a 12.1in touch screen that can recognise finger gestures and stylus pen gestures. Lenovo will also offer its SimpleTap tool for tablet navigation.

Lenovo said that the notebook versions of the X201 will focus on portability and battery life. The new system offers a claimed battery life of 11 hours, and sports a 12in screen and 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 chip. The company is also planning a smaller X201s model which promises a 12-hour battery life.

The X201 will retail at £849, while the X201s and X201 tablet will cost £1,099 and £1,149 respectively.

The two W series notebooks are scheduled for an April launch, and sport a carbon glass fibre casing and 17in screens. The units include Intel Core i7 processors and QuadroFX graphics hardware.

"We are continuing to push the envelope on innovation to give our mobile customers faster, more powerful and smarter ThinkPad laptops," said Lenovo ThinkPad marketing vice president Dhilip Bhatia.

"These PCs incorporate the latest computing technologies and extra Lenovo features to make the PC experience more simple and productive."
