2e2 awarded multimillion-pound contract for the Legal Ombudsman

Project due for completion ahead of October opening of new body

Robinson: 2e2 will deliver training on the case management system, business suite tools and the integrated telephony system

Systems integrator 2e2 this week announced that it has been awarded a three-year project to supply critical business services to the Legal Ombudsman.

The Legal Ombudsman is a new body being established by the Office for Legal Complaints to ensure consumers of legal services have an independent and impartial way to resolve disputes involving their lawyer.

Adam Sampson, CEO for the Legal Ombudsman, said: “We have always been clear that our aim is to bring about a new way of resolving complaints and to do that we need the right tools to be successful.

"We want to develop a high-performing organisation and know that we need to use innovative technologies to support our staff to resolve complaints quickly and fairly."

2e2 will provide business applications, on-premises services, on and off-premises service management, datacentre hosting, security, network services and end user training to the new body, which will be based in central Birmingham.

Simon Robinson, account director at 2e2, said: "It's a full outsourcing project. [The Legal Ombudsman] is a start-up business."

The Legal Ombudsman expects to be up and running by 6 October 2010. 2e2 has been working on the project since March this year, and expects to complete the integration of its end-to-end IT services well before this date.

"We're aiming for a date towards the end of August," Robinson added.

On the training requirement of the contract, he said: "2e2 is delivering training on the case management system, business suite tools and the integrated telephony system."

Concerning 2e2's recent acquisition of services rival Morse, Robinson stated: "The integration brings additional benefits to all our clients, [and] gives us additional skill sets."
