Argos picks Paragon HDS to transform home delivery operations

Argos aims to be more efficient after selecting what it felt was most 'advanced and robust' solution

High-street retailer Argos has chosen routing and scheduling system provider Paragon's home delivery solution as part of a wider project to overhaul its home delivery operation.

The company, which is part of the Home Retail Group, serves around 120 million customers a year through its network of 734 stores, and wanted a solution that could integrate with its existing multi-channel order processing systems to offer customers home delivery or customer collection time slots at the point of order.

"We looked at all the available home delivery solutions, and found that Paragon HDS was the most advanced and robust solution on the market," said Brian McCarthy, home delivery director at Argos.

Paragon said the solution would ensure Argos' transport schedule is continually re-optimised as new orders are added.

It said that the system would take into account delivery areas, available resources and existing deliveries that have been confirmed to evaluate possible delivery times for new orders within the customer's required time frame. In turn, Argos aims to become more efficient and offer a more consistent, reliable service to its customers.
