HP integrates 3PAR technology for cloud builders

Acquired utility storage systems bear fruit

HP has announced that it is integrating utility storage technology from 3PAR, the company it acquired for $2.35bn (£1.44bn) last September, into its cloud computing offering.

The company also introduced new storage systems for virtualised environments and data de-duplication.

The integration of 3PAR's technology will provide features such as automated storage tiers to improve performance, and thin storage offerings to obviate over-provisioning.

It will also help companies seeking to consolidate storage hardware with converged block-and-file storage on a single storage array, said HP.

Simplified data management across converged storage, server and networking platforms has also been provided.

To automate the provisioning of multi-tenant cloud storage, 3PAR utility storage can be managed as part of HP's CloudSystem, for delivering services across private, public and hybrid clouds.
