Orange adds zest to mobile business security
Mobile operator announces encryption partners, better managed VPN services and increased 3G network security
Orange boosts business mobile security
Mobile operator Orange today touted enhanced security offerings for its business subscribers.
The move follows a new partnership with two encryption specialists.
Orange head of corporate propositions Michael Lawrence said, "We're completely refreshing our managed VPN service and partnering with Becrypt and Barron McCann to deliver securer business connectivity."
Lawrence said the firm is boosting the availability of its managed VPN systems by increasing the range of connectivity and backup options for customers.
The use of Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) cards on Orange's 3G/3G+ mobile network ensures not just that a mobile device is authorised to connect, but that the network is bona fide and secure.
Orange said it is the first mobile operator to offer USIMs on a 3G/3G+ network.
Specialist security providers Becrypt and Barron McCann are both Communications–Electronics Security Group (CESG) certified. CESG is the UK government's National Technical Authority for Information Assurance.
Becrypt specialises in securing data at rest, on laptops for instance, while Barron McCann specialises in encrypting data being transferred over networks.
Orange said these partnerships will enable it to offer a broader range of network security solutions to customers.
