Next up was a report from Ofcom suggesting that one in five children aged eight to 12 have a Facebook account, despite the minimum age for registering with social networking sites being 13. Yahoo, meanwhile, has added the ability to make Facebook status updates directly from Yahoo Mail.
BT revealed the locations for its superfast broadband services this week, provoking a number of comments from people in rural areas who have been excluded from the telco's plans, and another popular story concerned the BBC's announcement that it will put its iPhone news and sports apps plans on ice for the time being.
Readers were also keen to see that the Large Hadron Collider finally made its first particle stream collisions, and that Google is moving ahead with its ambitious plans to build a series of 1Gbit/s fibre networks across the US.
There was bad news for many BT customers in London, however, after one of its main exchanges was knocked out by a flood.
