Handset maker records 58 per cent jump in revenue

HTC is claiming big gains amid strong Android sales

HTC has reported stronger than expected financial gains following surging sales of its Android-based handsets.

The company said in its monthly financial report that quarterly revenues were on pace to jump by 58.45 per cent compared to the same period in 2009, and that the firm had seen a 66.69 per cent year-over-year rise in June.

The financial boost comes in large part from HTC's Android smartphone business. The company is one of the top sellers of Android handsets, and its most recent releases have smashed carrier sales records.

However, HTC is currently locked in a legal battle with Apple. Both companies claim that the other has violated numerous patents covering the hardware and software design on their respective smartphone lines.
