AA signs £4m deal for voice services
New contract to save 40 per cent on voice and data costs
The AA has signed a three-year contract worth up to £4m for voice and data services for its roadside assistance fleet.
The contract with O2, which replaces an arrangement with Vodafone, is expected to cut voice and data costs by 40 per cent.
‘Vodafone had provided a good service but by going to tender, we were able to reduce our operating costs,’ said Trevor Didcock, director of information systems at the motoring and insurance organisation.
Jobs are dispatched to roadside staff using GPRS, but if the network is down, O2 will transfer data to GSM with no loss of service; with SMS as the last option.
