Rural staff get mobile email
System allows workers to access email in transit
The Commission for Rural Communities, part of the government’s Countryside Agency, has implemented a mobile email system to help its staff work on
the move.
Jonathan Ballinger, the Commission’s finance and estates manager, says the web-based system, known as MobilePA, will help to alleviate the inefficiencies caused by the frequent long journeys made by staff.
‘Previously we had a Lotus Notes system, and email was only available to staff when they were working at a Countryside Agency office or a location with a
telephone land line,’ he said.
‘The lack of mobile email meant employees were returning home to huge quantities of unread mail. MobilePA has eradicated that.’
