Infosec 2010: Defence expert launches cyber security centre

Centre to provide training and advice to help organisations ward off online attacks

The new centre will help businesses protect themselves against threats from cyber criminals

Defence and security expert EADS has opened a new cyber security centre to provide training and advice for organisations looking to protect themselves against online attack.

The Cyber Security Customers Solutions Centre (CSCSC) will have premises in the UK, France and Germany. It will provide research into emerging trends and give organisations the information they need to stay ahead of hackers.

EADS is exhibiting two of its cyber security solutions at this year’s InfoSecurity Europe exhibition, including HOTSim, a network defence training course to help prevent network intrusions.

The solution uses simulators which allow network operators to see how they can combat cyber attacks without endangering the operational network.

EADS will also be showcasing Security Cockpit, it is a tool that supervises information security and can prevent professional attacks.

“Our increasing dependence on cyberspace has led to concern over the growing threat of attack that has the potential to destabilise the economic well-being of not just the UK, but the world at large, said Brian Lillie, head of the UK division at EADS.

“New threats are on the news daily and the use of the cyber domain by criminals is changing too. EADS is investing heavily in research to look at improved situational awareness in the cyber domain.”
