Broadcaster releases first mobile application to stream live TV - including Premier League football
Sky TV is going mobile
Sky has created an app for the iPhone and iTouch that will stream live news and sports TV to the mobile devices.
The channels available include all Sky Sports programmes, Sky Sports News, Sky News, ESPN and At The Races.
Sports fans will be able to watch coverage of all live televised Barclays Premier League, Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League and Coca-Cola Football League games, as well as live coverage of international and domestic cricket, PGA European Tour Golf, Guinness Premiership Rugby and a range of other sports.
There will also be live breaking news from Sky News.
David Gibbs, general manager for mobile at Sky, said: “In less than a year we’ve already seen millions of downloads of Sky’s Apps from the App Store."
The app allows users to browse the Sky Mobile TV electronic programme guide for free and see what is on over the next 24 hours. To view live TV, customers will need to subscribe to the Sky Mobile TV service for £6 a month and register for a Sky customer ID.
The Sky Mobile TV App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
Other iPhone and iPod touch apps from Sky include Sky+ Remote Record, Sky News, Sky Sports Cricket Score and Sky Sports Football Score Centre. There have been two million downloads of Sky apps to date.
