World Duty Free checks in point-of-sale system
New software gives airport retailer better monitoring and stock control tools
The duty free store chain aimed at improving queuing times
Airport retailer World Duty Free has rolled out an electronic point-of-sale system to improve monitoring and speed up product replenishment.
The Retail-J system now covers 250 tills in World Duty Free's 57 stores in 12 UK airport terminals. Implementation was completed after the peak Easter trading period.
The system's benefits include improved control of the sale of duty-free products, processing multi-currency transactions and electronic reading of boarding cards at the till.
World Duty Free's head of IT Adrian Frymann said: “Customers queue to check in, pass through security and board their plane. We were determined to play our part in achieving minimal queuing time in our stores and to provide our customers with great service.
"That calls for exceptional systems backed up by faultless service.”
Vendor Retail Assist provided consultancy on World Duty Free's Retail-J and Oracle environments, which are supported by a JDA-supplied interface.
