Most business managers believe that in-house IT plays a crucial role in delivering innovation in their organisation, according to a report from IDC.
Nearly 70 per cent of survey respondents said that technology had assisted in the innovation of their company, while almost 60 per cent said they would like an increase in funding for in-house IT departments.
The study also showed that 64 per cent of managers invest 'a significant amount of time' in using IT resources to support their business operations. Some 20 per cent of those responding regarded IT managers to be the initiators of new enterprise strategies.
Respondents also experessed a preference for IT focusing on general efficiency, rather than seeking to improve worker productivity in their companies.
