Doll retailer outsources hosting and data storage
Disaster recovery now child's play for Dolls House Emporium
The world’s leading supplier of doll’s house and miniature collectibles has outsourced the hosting and storage of critical stock and customer account information.
The Dolls House Emporium, a mail order and online business used by doll collectors, constantly updates its data with live information from its web site.
It needed a scaleable storage solution to house critical and non-critical data and a resilient business continuity plan in case of hardware failures.
It selected Griffin Internet’s Storage Area Network (SAN) to manage and protect its constant growth in data. In case of disaster, it can be operational immediately without the loss of any business critical information.
IT manager Steve Morely says its web site sales contribute to almost half its business and it can not afford for it to go down.
‘Griffin Internet’s solution ensures that if there is a hardware failure, the site can be up and running in minutes rather than days without the loss of critical data,’ he said. ‘It is that kind of peace of mind that is invaluable to a business like ours.’
Griffin’s storage area network has been built on a state-of-the-art IP storage area network, which has recently been deployed across the Griffin national MPLS network into two separate hosting centres.
