HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy S hit the street

Android phones continue to flood the market

The Wildfire comes with HTC's Friend Stream application

The HTC Wildfire has been released across multiple networks, while the Samsung Galaxy S 16GB and Vodafone 845 have gone on sale exclusively through Vodafone.

The Wildfire is an 118g device with a 3.2in 240 x 320 resolution QVGA capacitive touch screen with pinch-to-zoom capabilities.

HTC has included a 5-megapixel camera, an app-sharing feature and its Friend Stream application, which brings together content from social network accounts. The web browser supports full Flash.

Vodafone is offering the phone free to customers paying £20 a month for 24 months. The tariff comes with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The Samsung Galaxy S, announced earlier this month, comes with Android 2.1 and a 4in Super AMOLED (C-type) WVGA touch screen with 480 x 800 resolution.

Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB of onboard memory, micro-SD support for up to 32GB and the ability to record video in 720p HD.

It is available for free on a £30 a month 24-month contract, including 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data.

Vodafone has also released its own 845 budget smartphone handset. The device features Android 2.1, a 2.8in touch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera and 3G connectivity.

The 845 is free for £15 per month on a 24-month contract, and includes 100 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB of data.
