Do you want to write for Computing?
Computing has teamed up with IT sector skills council e-Skills UK to launch a competition for budding technology journalists.
We are looking for 14 to 19-year olds with an interest in IT to write a 400-word article about all things digital – it could be about business use of technology, or consumer IT, gadgets, gaming, web sites, social networking, IT education in schools, government and the internet, or any topic that grabs their interest.
The first prize will see the winning entry published in Computing magazine, and two runners-up published on our web site.
All the details of how to enter can be found here: www.bigambition.co.uk/en/Competition .
The competition is part of e-Skills UK’s Big Ambition campaign to encourage young people to opt for a career in IT by giving teenagers an insider view of technology careers.
BigAmbition demonstrates the wide range of IT career options, and how to get into them. The campaign is fronted by a web site, www.bigambition.co.uk, featuring interactive tools including a "dream job finder" and a "did you know? " quiz. Video profiles of IT professionals are featured, to illustrate the diversity of the sector and show how rewarding a career in IT can be.
"The next generation of IT professionals has a huge role to play in terms of UK competitiveness,” said Karen Price, chief executive of e-Skills UK.
“Young people really enjoy using technology in their everyday lives and BigAmbition is full of information about how they can build on that interest with a variety of exciting, well-paid careers in the IT sector. BigAmbition will help us achieve our goal of turning the UK into a world-leading IT nation."
