Business process suite unifies data

Suite will integrate with firms' existing business intelligence (BI) systems

Business performance management (BPM) tools specialist Cartesis has launched its complete Extended Suite offering. The suite is a unified BPM platform that it said will integrate with firms’ existing business intelligence (BI) systems and free IT departments from mundane tasks such as the updating of Excel reports.

The product consists of three applications, which cover financial consolidation; planning and fore- casting; and reporting and analysis. Each module is built on an integrated data model (IDM), which means they all share the same data and metadata, the firm said.

When staff work on planning and forecasting, for example, this central data store could reduce costs, because forward-looking data will be immediately accessible and in one place, eliminating the need for databases and batch processes to be set up, according to Trevor Walker, vice-president of product marketing at Cartesis.

Walker added that the suite has an architecture based on open standards, so firms can integrate it with their existing BI tools, while an Information Delivery component enables live reporting in Excel.

“This empowers IT to deliver the information to the business in a robust and scalable environment and give the business user access to what they want when they want it, so they don’t have to keep relying on IT [staff] to update reports,” commented Walker.
