Newspaper group overhauls its network

Telegraph Group to install converged communications system at new HQ

The Telegraph Group is installing a converged data, voice and multimedia network for its new London headquarters.

The network, which is being installed as part of a five year deal, will give the firm's staff access to IP telephony and allow them to make more use of video conferencing.

Reporters will also be able to use the new infrastructure to access the company's systems and file copy remotely, allowing them to work away from the office on stories.

The Telegraph was looking for way to improve its multimedia product base, says Peter Green, the group's operations director.

'The network is needed to being us into line with a clear business plan. We found the tools to implement this with a Nortel/Applinet partnership,' he said.
