New software improves efficiency at Signet
Jewellery retailer Signet, which owns high street chains H Samuel, Ernest Jones and Leslie Davis, is using new software to manage its online staff recruitment.
The company wants to increase the efficiency of its recruitment process, streamline reporting and manage compliance in what is a highly competitive industry.
Signet employs more than 5,500 staff at 583 shops and has implemented new software and a database to process and manage retail and head office vacancies.
StepStone’si-Grasp acts as the engine of its career portal and a database centrally stores all applicant information.
Signet HR service centre manager Tracey Norris says the system has improved the time it takes to hire new staff and reduce recruitment agency and advertising spend.
‘Although we have been using i-Grasp for a relatively short time, we are receiving a greater number of quality CVs than ever before,’ she said. 'We are already saving time spent on administration due to improved reporting functionality.'
‘Another major time saving has been achieved through the automation of some applicant correspondence. In addition, candidates have provided feedback that they find the system very quick and easy to use,' she said.
Signet often received up to 30 calls per day from recruitment agencies, but in future all of the company’s preferred suppliers will use i-Grasp to submit CVs.
The system also enables the recording of all interaction with applicants to ensure Signet is compliant with all legislation, such as Age Discrimination laws.
‘We receive thousands of applications every month and now we have a way to track exactly how each candidate was progressed,’ Norris said. ‘This data will be important should we ever receive queries relating to the new law.’
