Numara boosts tools to install and patch applications

Numara Deploy 8.0 and Patch Manager 5.5 offer more automated capabilities and support a wider range of software

IT helpdesk and asset management software specialist Numara has announced improved tools to help firms manage the installation and patching of applications.

The new modules, Numara Deploy 8.0 and Patch Manager 5.5, integrate with the vendor's flagship Track-It asset management suite and are aimed at mid-market firms, said David Weiss, president and chief executive at the company.

"Asset and system management tools aren't new," Weiss said. "But they are experiencing growing demand from mid-market firms increasingly concerned about security and regulatory compliance, and we have enhanced the ease of use and improved price points to target this market."

Numara Deploy 8.0 features a new customisable console that allows IT administrators to plan software refreshes and automatically deploy or update applications. Weiss added that the new version also has better tools to detect and remove software that does not comply with corporate policies or licensing agreements.

Patch Manager 5.5, meanwhile, offers enhancements to handle patches for a wider number of non-Microsoft applications, including Apache and WinZip, and also has better reporting capabilities to track the patch status of system.

Both modules will be fully available within the next month. Deploy is priced from £435 for 25 workstation licences, and Patch Manager costs from £175 for 25 licences.
