The Law Society starts IT revamp

Solicitors' representative body signs £12m deal with Logica as part of transformation process

The law body expects to reduce its IT costs by 25 per cent

The Law Society has signed a £12m contract with Logica to support its IT transformation and reduce costs associated to the running of its technology setup.

Over the course of four years, the representative body for solicitors expects to generate savings of 25 per cent through outsourcing IT services. The organisation said that annual savings will help in meeting IT investment plans such as a “substantial” spending on new regulatory systems.

The services provided by Logica will be delivered via a blended onshore and offshore model and include remote infrastructure management, hosting, support and maintenance of its server estate, as well as running of a wide area network and applications management for core business systems.

With the new delivery structure, The Law Society expects to improve the relationship between IT and the business and have access Logica’s expertise. The supplier may also take part in other initiatives to further upgrade the firm’s infrastructure and business systems.
