Ocado delivers network infrastructure improvements
Single network operating system to reduce complexity and generate cost savings
Ocado's network infrastructure is core to the business
Online shopping firm Ocado has brought its internet hosting service in-house to improve security and reliability for customers shopping on the web.
The company is using high-performance networking equipment from Juniper Networks to simplify its infrastructure and reduce cost of ownership, as well as increasing performance and scalability.
In addition to improving Ocado’s internet connectivity, high-performance gateways also integrate intrusion prevention with security features such as firewalls and protection against infiltration and propagation of application level threats such as worms, trojans, spyware and malware.
“Our customers expect fast, reliable and secure service from our web site when placing online orders, so the network infrastructure is critical to our business model,” said Andy Howard, network manager at Ocado.
“We were looking for an innovative, robust hosting environment, and a high-performance network infrastructure with open and scalable solutions has helped us achieve that objective,” he said.
“The decision to bring the internet hosting function in-house was made easier by a single network operating system integrating routing, switching and security services, which streamlines our operational overhead significantly."
