The City University of London is to open a teaching unit dedicated to providing IT leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.
The Centre for Information Leadership (CIL) will begin offering a master's degree course from 2010.
“There is currently no centre in the UK that aims to bring an interdisciplinary approach to the development of CIOs, supported by truly independent, evidence-based strategy and policy work,” says Dr Andrew Tuson, head of computing at City University London.
The course will focus on issues such as cost management, business process, strategy, innovation and outsourcing.
The CIL will draw upon expertise from the University’s world-ranking Cass Business School and its City Law School, as well as in the disciplines of social sciences and arts. It is currently seeking a high-profile director and is looking to appoint an external advisory board, drawn from senior industry figures.
