Bob the Builder toymaker installs enterprise planning system

Can he build IT? Yes he can!

RC2 will use SAP software

Toymaker RC2 has begun using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to consolidate and centralise its wholesale and distribution operations in Europe.

The company, which makes products based on brands such as Bob the Builder, will also use the SAP ERP system to save time on business processes and create a central repository for information on customer orders and stock levels.

With the new growth targets to fulfill, new options were needed for the management of RC2's expanding operations, says Carol Newman, operations director for the company's European and Middle Eastern dDivision.

'SAP gives us a multi-lingual solution, so that we will have no inhibitions about going into new countries, because we know we will be able to process sales and stock information right away,' she said.

'The centralisation that SAP offers will also give us operational advantages, because it provides short-cuts for the manual side of some of our processes.'
