Sony Ericsson launches developer competition
Mobile giant runs second annual awards for mobile content developers
The Sony Ericsson Content Awards 2008 is now open for submissions
Sony Ericsson has announced a call for submissions to its 2008 Content Awards programme.
The firm announced yesterday the details of its second annual Sony Ericsson Content Awards, which it said were designed to commend mobile content developers.
Applications are open to any mobile developers who have created items for Sony Ericsson mobile phones.
Last year saw Sony Ericsson give awards to established players including RealNetworks, BitCycle, Gracenote and Opera.
"Sony Ericsson is very proud to unveil its 2008 Content Awards and celebrate bringing the best and most innovative content from mind to market," said Björn Ahlberg, head of Sony Ericsson Content & Services.
"We highly value our relationships with content creators and developers, and as equal partners within the mobile ecosystem, together we can create unique propositions and experiences for consumers."
There are seven categories in which developers will be judged, ranging from mobile applications, green solutions and mobile tools, to leisure and in-car applications.
Industry experts will judge entries on ease-of-use, entertainment factor, look and feel and uniqueness.
The competition starts today and runs until the end of November. Finalists will be selected in December, and the winners will be announced in February next year.
Sony Ericsson has launched a web site which includes details, forms and application information.
This is the second mobile developer competition to be announced this week. The Nokia Forum has also announced a similar competition on its platform aimed at promoting mobile application development across the globe.
