Google and Symbian tie-up mooted

Symbian CEO touts idea of partnership between Android and Symbian mobile platforms

Symbian tie up with Google is a possibility

Open source smart phone platform Symbian may tie up with Google's Android mobile offering at an operating or application level.

Reports say Nigel Clifford, CEO of Symbian, told a Tokyo press conference that the two companies had already worked closely together, and that Symbian was among the first mobile platforms to use Google applications.

Symbian was recently bought out by Nokia, and the launch of Google's Android mobile platform has been delayed.

The move would be seen as an alliance to take on Windows mobile and Apple's 3G iPhone.
