FA Premier League kicks spam
Email filtering system to cut spam and viruses
The FA Premier League is installing software to protect its employees from email spam and viruses.
The organisation has deployed an email filtering system to protect itself from junk emails and security threats including viruses and malware.
The new system, MailControl, supplied by BlackSpider was implemented in June. The FA Premier League was previously using another on-demand security service provider for the last two years.
Simon Thunder, IT & telecommunications manager at the FA said: 'Obviously being in the public eye means we may be more prone to spam.'
'Since implementation a very high percentage of spam and all viruses have been blocked before reaching our users,' he said.
'Our staff have taken advantage of the email reports which enables them to check their own filtered spam messages and retrieve them accordingly,' said Thunder.
'The email filtering system's online reporting and management portal is incredibly user friendly and we can pool all the relevant information we need in real time,' he said.
Thunder says there have been no implementation challenges and the system is completely transparent to the users.
'Of course there was the usual anxiety that you get with any migration that could effect the business but the migration was straightforward,' he said.
'We had technical support from BlackSpider explaining exactly how to complete the migration,' said Thunder.
