Gloucestershire outsources IT transformation

County Council aims to reform its computer systems with five year project

Gloucestershire County Council is to outsource a project to transform the way it uses IT.

The council wants to change outdated systems in its finance, human resources and payroll departments, and create integrated business processes.

Due to start this month, the business process transformation outsourcing contract with CapGemini will last until 2011. Ultimately, both sides hope to achieve substantial cost savings through the transformation.

The business process transformation plan centres on SAP software, which will be installed by a joint CapGemini and Gloucestershire team.

Gloucestershire County Council is already recognised as an authority that is performing well and providing good value for money, and where local people recognise improvements in services, says Councillor Ray Theodoulou.

'But we are determined to press forward in our quest for excellent service, ever greater efficiency and maximum cost-effectiveness, and equally determined to give our staff the tools they need to achieve these objectives,' he said.
