Ingrian offers encryption best practice

A Strategic Approach to Enterprise Key Management targets firms that deal with sensitive customer data

Data privacy solutions provider Ingrian Networks has launched a new white paper that details best practices in key management and advises how to implement enterprise-wide encryption solutions.

Entitled A Strategic Approach to Enterprise Key Management , the document is targeted at firms dealing with sensitive customer data, and advises on how to enhance security and manageability, for example, enforcing separation of duties so administrators cannot carry out internal attacks.

The report also advises firms to ensure they invest in solutions that are easy for administrators to use and contain logging and auditing capabilties, as well as easily interoperable with other data encryption systems.

"Whereas before it was difficult to do, people are seeing the benefit of encryption, and that it's the easy part; how to manage the keys and restrict the flow of information [is complicated part]," argued Ingrian European sales manager Jon Shaw. "How do you manage keys across heterogeneous environments, with [proprietary] Oracle and SQL systems, for example?"
