Andrew Miller to chair Commons Science and Technology Committee

First ever elections to select committee chairmanships

Parliamentary Information Technology Committee chairman Andrew Miller has been elected to chair the Commons Science and Technology Committee in the first ever series of elections to select committee chairmanships.

He will take up the post shortly when MPs are appointed to the committee.

It is one of the formal select committees of Parliament which will review the work of government affecting science, conduct hearings and publish reports.

The Parliamentary IT Committee (PITCOM) is a grouping of MPs, peers and representatives of the IT industry which meets monthly to discuss wide-ranging issues.

Miller is also deputy chairman of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee, another semi-formal Westminster body.
