Businesses need better mobile email
A survey from Vodafone suggests that more workers want mobile mail
A new survey from Vodafone suggests that businesses expect responses to emails within an ever decreasing period of time.
The survey, the second of its kind, found levels of patience in relation to email responses were wearing thin, with one in three businesses expecting a response within two hours, and one in ten wanting a thirty minute turnaround. Failing to meet these deadlines can cost businesses dearly Vodafone warned, suggesting that they cost them on average some £18,840.
This is exasperated by new means of communication, such as mobile email, according to Vodafone. The survey found that just under half of workers felt that they needed to receive and respond to emails when out of the office. More than a third of workers said that while they were out of the office an inability to access mails had caused problems including stress and conflict.
Mark Bond, Enterprise Business Unit Director, Vodafone UK commented. “This year we have seen mobile email access, more than ever before, become an essential piece of the business armoury. This survey clearly demonstrates that the way we approach our work is changing and businesses need to move to address that change.”
