Virgin Mobile gets new despatch system
Output management software helps consolidate despatch systems
Virgin Mobile is using an output management system to handle the 10,000 orders the firm receives each week.
Attached to the mobile company's ERP software the system will support Virgin Mobile's move to sell phones direct to customers via a new web site.
Until now, the company has used the ERP system to create basic retail despatch notes for commercial customers, says Paul Brassett, Virgin Mobile's logistics support manager.
'The new system allows us to take a more differential approach, we can print labels for contracts, other labels for upgrades, information on your new and old contracts and proposition ideas for value-added sales,' he said.
The Formscape V3 software will also save Virgin Mobile money by sending out email confirmations to customers, reducing telephone enquiries.
Using the output management system has also enabled Virgin to save some money, Brassett says.
'Because we can combine the despatch note and invoice into one document cutting the amount of paper used by a third,' he said.
