Asus ships Eee PC 1000
Latest model of ultra-small laptops now available
Asus has announced availability of its Eee PC 1000, an addition to its popular range of ultra-small laptops that offers a slightly larger screen and keyboard than earlier models, plus a hard drive for Windows users.
Unveiled in June, the Eee PC 1000 has a 10in 1024 x 600 display and is based on Intel's Atom processor combined with 1GB memory. Earlier models had an 8.9in screen or smaller, and were based on Celeron processor technology.
The Eee PC 1000 ships in two versions; a Linux-based model has a 40GB Flash solid state disk (SSD) for storage and costs £369, while the Eee PC 1000H runs Windows XP from an 80GB hard drive and costs £349. Both models have a six-cell battery offering up to 7.5hours life, subject to usage conditions.
