Experian hires first CIO
New chief information officer will devise the company's IT strategy
The role of CIO is new at Experian
Data services group Experian has created the new role of global chief information officer (CIO) in a bid to create a common IT strategy and deployment policy.
Mel Mason, previously managing director of technology services for Experian’s UK and Ireland division since 2003, has been promoted to the new post. The CIO will also be expected to work on enhancing the quality of service delivery, integrating datacentres and networks and improving the overall efficiency of Experian’s businesses.
Mason’s previous experience includes a 12-year spell as the IT director for retailer GUS and a 17-year mandate at Tesco, where he climbed the ranks until becoming a deputy to the IT director.
“It is absolutely vital that Experian’s information and analytics solutions are underpinned with the best technology infrastructure supported by the best technologists,” said Mason.
