Dell sings simple SAN song
Firm releases storage area network solution offering IT managers up to six terabytes of data
Dell today launched a storage area network (SAN) solution which offers IT managers up to six terabytes (TB) of data capacity for £6499 excluding VAT.
Based on EMC's latest Clarion products, the AX150 connects up to ten host servers to a maximum of 12 500GB SATA II hard drives through either fibre channel (FC) or iSCSI interfaces.
Like other vendors, Dell and EMC are deliberately targeting SAN equipment at smaller businesses, which they believe are starting to face the same expanding data capacity requirements as corporates.
With little or no storage expertise expected in-house, the vendors are keen to emphasise easy of use and installation; bundled software shipped with the storage array includes EMC Navisphere Express Management Suite, Snapview Express and a configuration utility.
