Security boost for remote users
SafeWord MobilePass works on a wide range of laptops, PDAs and smartphones
Secure Computing has announced a tool to let workers generate one-time passwords for remote authentication using a smartphone, removing the need to remember passwords or carry separate hardware tokens, the company said.
SafeWord MobilePass is available immediately for key platforms such as Windows Mobile, Palm OS, BlackBerry and J2ME-enabled handsets. A version also runs on Windows PCs and laptops.
Once installed on the smartphone, SafeWord MobilePass can generate a one-time passcode on demand. This enables mobile workers to authenticate using a device they always have with them, instead of using a traditional security token, Secure Computing said.
