Caterer moves to utility model
Elior wants to improve customer service
Elior will use system to meet peaks in demand
Catering company Elior UK has moved to a utility computing model to improve customer service and meet peaks in demand.
The firm caters for more than 1,000 restaurants across the UK and has signed a multimillion-pound three-year deal with infrastructure services firm Savvis.
The vendor will host 16 applications including email, electronic point of sale systems, management and information systems and web services.
Switching from legacy systems to a scalable and resilient managed IT service will support the rollout of new services to meet growth targets and allow Elior to cut operational costs and improve availability, says Alistair Fuller, IT director at Elior UK.
‘It made sense to move to a utility model that will allow us to renew our system and have a more industrialised, economic form of computing,’ he said.
