Spirent reinvents testing tool
Spirent TestCenter 2.0 enables a "step change in performance"
Performance analysis specialist Spirent Communications has launched a new version of its TestCenter network testing platform, designed to give service providers and enterprises a faster time to market, a better quality end product and significantly shorter development times.
Spirent TestCenter 2.0, available immediately, is built with the new Inspire Architecture to enable a “step change in performance” according to the firm’s chief operating officer, Rob Piconi.
“This will change the way people think about testing,” Piconi argued. “Before, it was a necessary evil, but if you could do it in 40-60 percent less time, it’s more of a strategic advantage to help you accelerate time to market.”
Spirent is claiming a reduction in engineering hours for product and system verification of between 18 and 25 percent, thanks to improvements in four key areas, added Piconi.
Automation of test scripts and test cases; enhanced scalability, which allows more users to share the same system simultaneously; and realtime control over issues such as packet loss and modified traffic rates boost the efficiency of the whole testing process. The firm’s patented HyperFilters technology completes the enhancements, designed to save time in defining and troubleshooting testing, said Piconi.
“The content itself is all the same; it comes down to being first to market, cost effective and the quality [of the product] – that’s what we’re playing into,” Piconi explained.
