Barnardo's to set up secure link to children's database

Identity management tools will provide safe access to government system

All children under 18 will be on the ContactPoint database

Children's charity Barnardo's is implementing an identity management system that will link employee's digital identities to the government's children's database.

Barnardo's workers will use a two-factor authentication system to access both in-house systems and ContactPoint – a database of all children in England and the social services working with them.

Barnardo's was keen to ensure any access to ContactPoint was absolutely secure.

The Oracle system is set to go live later this year.

“Oracle has long been a trusted partner of Barnardo’s and, in moving further into their identity security portfolio, we are able to again pioneer good practice in our sector and continue working at the forefront of improving the lives of children across the UK,” said Bob Darby, information services director of Barnardo’s.
