American Express will aim to virtualise to reap savings
American Express has signed a deal with IBM for the provision of IT services which will involve an overhaul of its server environment.
Under the agreement, IBM will manage the mid-range server set-up of the credit card firm. The supplier’s work is expected to translate into “advanced levels” of energy savings and standardisation, while virtualisation is also expected to play a bigger part in the company’s server room.
"As we strive to enhance the globally accessible financial services we offer our customers, we seek partners that can work with us to drive growth, improve performance and increase efficiency," said Steve Squeri, executive vice president and chief information officer at American Express.
