Unilever upgrades remote working tools
Mobile VPN to provide secure access for sales staff
Consumer goods manufacturer Unilever has signed a deal with NetMotion Wireless International, as part of a project to provide remote working technology to its global sales staff.
The NetMotion Wireless Mobility XE product will provide a virtual private network connection to staff, so that they can access business applications via their handheld Windows Mobile PDA devices.
Sales staff across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa will be able to use the system to submit orders for brands, including Dove, Findus and Domestos, while visiting customer sites.
'Over the last six months Unilever has carefully considered the correct tactical approach for our deployment of Windows Mobile devices in a rapidly evolving sector,' said Richard Oxenham, mobile solutions specialist at Unilever.
'We needed to establish an architecture which met the full variety of demands across our global business operations,' he said.
The NetMotion product will also provide added levels of security to prevent hacking or information theft.
