Location technology offers added security
Gunnebo Security can track its staff anywhere, anytime
Gunnebo Security, a supplier of safes, vaults and other security equipment, has expanded its contract to provide location-based technology to its engineers.
The company, which provides services to security firms such as Chubb, uses real time location software via its mobile phones or GSM modem to monitor deployment of engineers and respond to emergencies.
It also enables Gunnebo Security to provide customers with accurate feedback and arrival times for maintenance or services such as lock changes.
Cybit has deployed its mapAmobile service and will continue to support the service which ensures Gunnebo Security can locate any member of its mobile workforce at any time of the day without disrupting engineers’ work.
‘We wanted to implement a low-cost locating system so that we can monitor where our engineers are,’ said IT manager Mike Skidmore. ‘We can now optimise our mobile workforce through standard mobile phone technology and an Internet browser.
‘It has enabled us to direct our engineers more effectively and also helps us look after our engineers, because we can locate them if they get into any difficulties.’
MapAmobile uses any mobile phone network to locate a mobile phone or GSM modem anywhere in the UK within seconds. The service requires no extra hardware and is cheaper than standard GPS tracking systems.
