Content system to help property firm develop better sites

Web management system makes use of digital assets

Property firm Land Securities has installed a web content management system to improve the quality of its 44 web sites and make them easier to manage.

Consolidation of the company’s web sites includes its intranet, micro-sites for national shopping centres, and a community portal serving the occupiers of Land Securities’ 200 London buildings.

The web content management system, provided by Percussion, manages customer-centric content across multiple sites and different lines of business.

The new system allows Land Securities to clone sites and reuse design templates to accelerate new site development and maintain consistent corporate design and branding standards.

‘We can now reuse assets such as imagery as well as improving the quality of our sites,’ said Land Securities programme manager Wendy Antaw.

‘The main drivers for the implementation were improved governance and design, and getting a platform that is more scalable,’ she said.

The system allows simple and intuitive content creation and editing which reduces the need for technical support, enabling the firm to insource content management in several business units.

‘The main challenge was getting agreement from all stakeholders and we overcame this by not being as aggressive on the timescale and spending more time on our roadmap,’ said Antaw.

The firm will migrate existing web sites to the new system throughout 2007.
