Shell awards seven-year IT contract to Fujitsu

Deal is the first global agreement of its kind for Shell

Shell chooses Fujitsu in first deal of its kind

Fujitsu is to provide IT support and systems for Shell’s petrol stations in 19 countries including the UK in a seven-year agreement.

The work, which includes IT support for forecourt controllers, point-of-sale, payment card machines and back office systems, is currently provided by multiple suppliers.

As part of the agreement, Fujitsu will support existing and new IT as well as implementing the new site systems. It will roll these out over the next three years, while providing IT support over a seven-year period.

Three global Fujitsu services centres in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific will support the 19 countries.

The deal is the first global agreement of its kind for Shell, under its Retail Global Site Systems Programme to replace or upgrade its systems and applications.

Anne Stokes, business unit director for retail, transportation, manufacturing and services at Fujitsu UK and Ireland said: “It is a privilege to be part of the first global agreement of this kind for Shell as well as be at the forefront of helping the business create greater efficiencies and cost reductions in the support of its forecourt IT.”

Shell has not published a list of the remaining 18 countries, citing commercial reasons, but confirmed Austria, France, Netherlands, Italy and Sweden were included in the deal.
