Law firm puts email in cloud

Eversheds chooses Mimecast cloud email archiving and security

Eversheds rolls out cloud email archiving and security

Corporate law firm Eversheds LLP has selected cloud email management firm Mimecast to archive and secure its Exchange-based, 4,500-user Outlook email system.

After a competitive tender process Eversheds signed a three-year contract to implement Mimecast’s Unified Email Management system.

Mimecast chief executive Peter Bauer said, "According to the latest industry figures, the average user gets 7MB in their inbox each day. Rolling out a fully cloud-based solution gives us cost savings by eliminating on-premise email storage."

"Rapid increases in storage requirements make on-premise storage and archiving increasingly expensive and inefficient, and the most innovative law firms are turning to cloud to deal with these issues," added Bauer.

Explaining the reason for the move, Eversheds CIO Paul Caris said, "Mimecast provides us with business continuity. There will inevitably be times when Exchange is unavailable, either for planned maintenance or other unforeseeable reasons."

"With Mimecast we have the technological backup to keep our people working during an Exchange outage with no disruption to the services we provide to clients."

"Adopting a fully cloud-based solution will also enable us to make a cost saving by eliminating the growing burden of email storage."

The Mimecast deployment is ongoing, and will run alongside Eversheds’ on-premise email archiving system.
