Rumba to get Vista update

Legacy application access tool Rumba for Windows is due this June

NetManage has announced a Vista-compatible version of its Rumba tool for accessing legacy applications.

Rumba for Windows Vista, available from June, enables users to access applications on “big iron” systems such as IBM mainframes as well as iSeries and Unix platforms.

The new version has all the features of earlier releases but offers an enhanced graphical user interface, said sales director Shahissta Ratyal.

Meanwhile, NetManage also plans to support Ajax in OnWeb, its middleware that lets firms web-enable traditional green-screen applications for access via a browser.

Ratyal said the move is in line with where large organisations are heading with enterprise applications. “By web-enabling these applications, information can be accessed from a PC, laptop or mobile device,” she said.
